Helping communities heal after suicide loss through remembrance, connection, and support.

Healing Looks Different for Everyone

At Suicide Loss Memorial Foundation, we believe healing happens not only through clinical support, but also through human connection, community, purpose, remembrance, and belonging.

That’s why we are working to create:

  • youth engagement programs

  • community gathering places

  • memorial spaces

  • peer connection opportunities

  • healing-centered community initiatives

Because no one should have to navigate grief and isolation alone.

Meet the Founder

I lost my father to suicide in August of 2014. At the time, conversations around suicide and mental health were far less open than they are today, and the loss felt incredibly isolating. Because he was cremated and had no burial place, I struggled with not having a space where I could go to feel connected to him or say goodbye.

Wanting to create something meaningful in his memory, I started a fundraiser to place a bench in the park where he loved taking long walks. Once the bench was placed, it became more than a memorial — it became a place of comfort and connection. That experience opened my eyes to how important physical spaces and human connection can be in the healing process after loss.

As time went on, my perspective expanded beyond grief alone. Becoming a mother deepened my compassion for young people who may be silently struggling and for families navigating loss. I began thinking not only about healing after tragedy, but also about creating stronger communities that help people feel supported before they reach a breaking point.

I started Suicide Loss Memorial Foundation with the hope of creating spaces, programs, and opportunities for connection so fewer people feel alone in their grief, struggles, or mental health journey. I want my children — and future generations — to grow up in a world where they feel safe expressing themselves, asking for help, and building meaningful connections with others.

We live in a time where many people feel isolated, even while surrounded by others. I believe healing begins with connection, community, purpose, and knowing you are not alone.

Memorial Projects

We believe in creating quiet, meaningful places where those lost to suicide can be remembered with love and dignity. Whether it’s a park bench under a favorite tree, a community garden that grows new life, a peaceful dog park, or a stretch of road dedicated in someone’s name—these memorial spaces offer comfort, connection, and a sense of belonging for those left behind.

They’re not just tributes—they’re places to reflect, to grieve, to gather, and to heal.

Community Garden

Our community garden will offer a space where people can come to reconnect—with nature, with others, and with themselves.

Youth Social Engagement Program

The Youth Social Engagement Program is designed to help young people affected by suicide loss, grief, isolation, or mental health challenges feel more connected and supported through positive shared experiences.

Through activities such as sports, group outings, creative workshops, and community events, the program aims to create safe spaces where youth can build friendships, confidence, emotional strength, and a sense of belonging.

We believe healing begins with connection, community, and knowing you are not alone.

Your donation helps us create real-world spaces and programs that support individuals, families, and communities affected by suicide loss and mental health struggles.

Answers for those walking this road.

A few of the questions we hear most often — about who we are, how we help, and how you can be part of this community of healing.

  • We are a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals, families, and communities heal after suicide loss. We do this through memorial spaces, youth engagement programs, community gatherings, and peer connection opportunities

  • We are based in Greeley, Colorado, but our goal is to become state wide.

  • We welcome volunteers for community events, youth programs, garden projects, and with social media and creative. Send us a message through the Contact section and tell us a bit about how you'd like to help.

  • Not exactly. What we are is a community that shows up with something real. We focus on action-based support — building memorials, digging gardens, getting young people moving and connected — because we believe grief needs somewhere to go, not just someone to talk to.

We put people together in real spaces doing real things, because sometimes the most powerful thing you can do for someone in pain is hand them a shovel, sit beside them in the dirt, and refuse to let them disappear.

If you are in crisis right now, please call or text 988 — the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. It's free, confidential, and available 24/7. Please reach out to them immediately.

  • We love partnering with schools, employers, faith communities, and local organizations on memorial projects, youth engagement events, and awareness campaigns. Reach out through the Contact form and we'll set up a conversation about what's possible together.

  • Yes. Memorial dedications are at the heart of what we do. Please reach out through our Contact form and we'll walk you through the process and get to understand your situation.
